The long term effects of the war on terror.

Besides the lovely stateside "improvements" to our civil liberties, i.e. p.a.t.r.i.o.t. act II ( Ridges Revenge), has anyone truly thought out the possible future philosophical and religious effects that this war will have? With the post-war (ha) clean-up being as well planned as the presidents improvised speeches, what possible ramifications could isolating and hunting an entire people down pose to future religious sects? Fundamentalism is a stormy mindset, prone to lightning before sunshine, and there is no way that i can believe that it will simply abate by our whack - a - mole millitary methodology. The question then becomes, not what sort of world do we live in or will our children live in, but our grandchildrens grandchildren. I know that is the facade for the ligitimacy of our current bout with imperialism, but does it really make sense? Is anything besides education and tolerance really going to have a good long term effect on the planet? Cause the "kill em all and let Allah sort em out" mindset seems more in tune with a couple of shootin from the hip idiots, and not so much with the general evolution of the Human psyche.
