Katrina

Well this is awful. In my opinion, the three thousand or so lives lost on 9/11 by the failure of our administration to anticipate enemy actions pales in comparison to the absolutely horrible reality that we have seen from our leaders the last few days.
Remember that F.E.M.A. was gutted and transformed under the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act to respond to terrorist threats as its main objective. A little short sighted and a little late. What this administration has proven in the last few days, regardless of the racism issue, is that thier ill-preparedness runs so deep that in the event of another catastrophe of actual "biblical" scale they are still scratching thier heads and trying to figure out what to do while the rest of the citizens of our country take action and send supplies and money to help the victims. These people will need more than a 2000 dollar credit card to get back on thier feet and become productive members of our country once a new home has been established for them. It is our duty as good americans to open our hearts to these people, not only for the next few weeks or in the next political cycle, but until we are sure that those people have found a quality of life again similar or better to before the flood. There will be more disasters, and if we cannot trust our leaders to lead in those circumstances, than we as citizens will have to.
