Merry Labor Day all!
As some of you know, for the past year I have been producing a weekly call in show on WBNY titled "The Literal Media". Airing from 10 a.m. to Noon on WBNY's All Talk Monday, the show focuses on media critiques as well as local issues. Hosted by Alt Press and WHLD alumni Grady Hawkins and Joe Schmidbauer, the show is more of a free form version of their much better produced morning show on WHLD " The Newsroom". "The Newsroom" went off the air in 2008, and in the interim the three of us made many attempts to revive it, from a stint of podcasting from Sweetness_7 in the early years, (Thanks Prish!) to a prerecorded show on WTF Radio, to attempting to secure our own radio signal from the FCC through a long and costly bout of bureaucratic paperwork, and an attempt to make a skype based online call in show. Finally last year we were able to secure a spot at WBNY and have kept the lines open to the people of Buffalo every Monday morning. Our thanks to Chappy and Sara Ali (of the Karibu News) for having faith in us. The show has found a rhythm some what and we are hoping to expand our listener and caller base this year by actually advertising.
